Vaccinations for Group 4 will start from Wednesday 28 July. Group 4 includes everybody in New Zealand aged 16 or over not already eligible under the Group 1, 2 or 3 vaccination rollout programme.

There are over 2 million people in Group 4, so the rollout is being carefully planned to keep everything running smoothly. Vaccination will be done in order of age – starting with those over 60 years, then those over 55 years and so on – for the rest of the year. It’s a simple approach, starting with older people and working down

In the meantime, the focus remains on getting those in Group 3 booked and vaccinated, and those in Groups 1 and 2 continuing to get their vaccinations. Everyone in Group 3 will be invited to book their vaccination by the end of July.

People in Group 4 who are over 60 years old will be invited to book directly via the national online booking system ‘Book My Vaccine’ or a by calling a national 0800 number. Invitations will come via text, email, phone call or letter.

whānau-centred approach to vaccinations continues - that means aiga and whānau can be vaccinated as a roopu.

Inviting millions of people to be vaccinated will take until the end of this year. There is enough vaccine for everyone, please be patient, your turn to get vaccinated will come.
