Sharing a pic of our Client Services Manager, Matt at the Kelston Civil Defence Centre. He talked and listened to one of the people we support whose rental home was red stickered due to flood damage. They are waiting for a call from their landlord about their next options.

When asked what’s helping them cope during this tough time, she said just having her autistic son and her emotional support birds (pets are welcome at CDCs) by her side have helped.

We are available to provide specialist disability support, advice, and more to disabled people and families staying at evacuation hubs. Apart from Matt, our Chair Barry de Geest and his wife Bronwyn, our CEO Sonia Hawea, and our knowledgeable connectors have been going to CDCs across Tāmaki Makaurau, organising requests for adaptive equipment and advocating on their behalf for other essentials. Perhaps more importantly, we're there to send out aroha to our community.
