Tofa Mamao website launch

Tōfa Mamao launched its website in July 2020 which shows the people behind the collective and service offerings designed to empower Pacific people. The website is also enabled with accessibility features.

Tofa Mamao first started as a group of like-minded people that had a shared interest in advancing the voices of the Pacific Disability Community and their lived experiences, as voices to be respected and taken seriously by our communities, wider public and society.

We supported the collective during its founding stages and continue to value our working relationship with them, as they provide direct insight into what's important for Pacific people and how they want to be supported. For example, their deep networks within Pacific communities enabled us to hold an important 3-day fono with Pacific people last year. The conversations with people reiterated the challenges and opportunities in supporting Pacific people holistically.

Tōfa Mamao independence will be essential in advancing the voices of those with lived experience, for example their current work developing an alternative to the recommendations outlined in the recent Health and Disability Review Report.
